The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Polk Community College Student Center, 999 Ave. H, N.E., Winter Haven. The hearing will allow residents the opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed improvements. The proposed project involves improving S.R. 542 from First Street in Winter Haven to U.S. Highway 27 in Dundee. The general objective of the study is to provide documented information necessary for FDOT to reach a decision on the type, design and location of improvements to S.R. 542 for acceptance by the FHWA. Right of way acquisition is proposed for this project. There are potential business and residential relocations associated with this project. Potential encroachments on wetlands and floodplains have been identified as a result of this project and may be given special consideration. FDOT representatives will be available at the hearing to answer questions beginning at 6 p.m. and the formal hearing will begin at 7 p.m.
The environmental assessment and supporting documents and conceptual design plans will be available for public review through April 4 at the Winter Haven Public Library, located at 325 Ave. A N.W.
