Science fair winners from East Polk County are listed below according to school location. Students winning first-place awards qualified for the state science fair, scheduled April 16-18 at The Lakeland Center. State qualifiers are noted with a parentheses. Four public school students won best of show awards, and those are also noted in parentheses. In addition, projects by David Futch, a senior at Winter Haven High School, and Pranali Dalvi, a sophomore at Bartow International Baccalaureate School, were chosen for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Atlanta in May. Futch, who won an award at the 2007 International Fair, will compete in the zoology category at the 2008 international event.
